The al-Kataib Media Foundation, the official media channel of the Somali jihadist group Harakt al-Shabaab al-Mujaheddin, published 25 photos to claim and show two attacks conducted on 4 and 7 September against two military bases of the Somali army and pro-government militias in the towns of Daaru-Nicma and Nuur Dugle in the Middle Shabelle administrative region of central Somalia.
Government sources and the Communications Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, however, claimed that the attack was repelled.
The photos show seized military vehicles and motorbikes, burnt vehicles, dead bodies, parts of the occupied military bases and numerous seized weapons and ammunition.
In some of the photos are goods with the flag of the United Arab Emirates, likely military supplies for the bases.
In the descriptions, the Somali jihadist group refers to the Somali army and militias as pro-government 'apostate militias' and the areas of the attack as Wilaayah, the Arabic term for a province or administrative division, thus meaning areas of their control.
