What is the trend of ISWAP propaganda?
Evaluation and analysis of Islamic State propaganda in West Africa in the first six months of 2024.
The Islamic State has in recent years made Africa its main area of military action and propaganda. Through the activities of the West African Province (ISWAP), Nigeria and the broader Lake Chad basin have long been destabilizing the region, disrupting local governance and increasingly seeking to control territory.
Propaganda materials released by the group in the early months of 2024 showed how ISWAP has intensified attacks on Nigerian, Niger and Cameroonian military positions, bases, barracks and convoys, increased the use of attacks through suicide missions with SVBIEDs, those against Christian villages, and those in which it shows the execution of civilians and military personnel through beheadings and shootings).
