Al-Qaeda (AQ)
Al-Malahem Media, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), released a new video entitled “The Path of Righteousness” lasting approximately 1 hour and 17 minutes. The video includes what the group describes as confessions from “spies” who collaborated with UAE intelligence.
The video shows the confession of a member of the group named Mohammad Abdullah Muwada, known within the group as “Akram Muwada,” who was arrested by AQAP in July last year on charges of being an informant for the United Arab Emirates. Another person whom the group described as a collaborator with the USA intelligence, named Ar-Rasas bin Alwi Al-Rasas, is also shown. According to the material, Muwada recounted how he was recruited by the Emirati security service and provided information that, according to him, led to the deaths of members of the group. The video also shows, according to al-Qaeda’s video, documents and correspondence between Muwada and the Emirati intelligence service that recruited him, as well as photographs of him in various locations within the United Arab Emirates, including a photo next to the Burj Khalifa. Footage is also shown, which, according to the group, Muwada filmed and delivered with coordinates to Emirati intelligence, and large sums of money are displayed, which, according to the group, Muwada received for the information he provided. The video reveals Muwada’s correspondence with another Emirati informant named Awad Akram Ahmad Bashkil, whom the group accuses of using fake Facebook accounts to communicate with targets and obtain information by posing as a benefactor. Muwada indicated that the information he provided helped identify a member of the group named Musa Ibrahim as-Subihi, known as ‘Ayub al-Lahji’, who was killed in a US air strike in Abyan province in February last year. The video also contains a series of accusations made by Muwada against Riyad Omar bin Shaab al-Nahdi, known as ‘Abu Omar al-Nahdi’, who was previously a member of AQAP. Muwada claims that al-Nahdi gave false testimony, is the architect of disruptive projects, and, before the rise of the Houthis, sought support from various parties, including the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, and moved between different external actors in the interests of their objectives. Muwada also describes himself as one of his closest friends.
The video revisits and addresses a topic that is always very sensitive for AQAP, that of spies and traitors, a problem that has plagued the al-Qaeda affiliate for years. Yemen

Militants from the Nigerian jihadist group Jama’at Ahl as-Sunna li da’wa wa l-Jihad (aka Boko Haram), led by Bakura Doro, have released a video showing an attack on an island controlled by jihadist militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Lake Chad basin. The footage shows a large number of JAS militants arriving by canoe or boat. This video indirectly refutes reports of an alleged reconciliation between ISWAP and JAS. ISWAP had built fortifications around their positions on the island, but their forces were outnumbered. As a result, JAS captured a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition belonging to ISWAP militants.
